Cherokee County 5K Draws 2,700+ Participants, Raises $150K for Local Causes

On Saturday, August 16th, Etowah River Park was filled with nearly 2,700 runners, walkers, and strollers as the community celebrated the 12th annual Cherokee County 5K presented by all six Chick-fil-A locations throughout Cherokee County.

The event saw a total of 2,700 participants. The 5K is a Peachtree qualifier and boasts two separate courses for running enthusiasts: The "SARGE" was available for more competitive runners, and the "DAISY" course is available to participants who prefer a more leisurely pace or they had strollers or dogs on leashes. "Sarge" and "Daisy" are newly named Chick-fil-A Corporate cows.

Participants were treated to a wide range of activities, from Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits to a petting zoo, balloon art, face painting, and fresh fruit. Cherokee County non-profits are eligible to have a complimentary booth (limited quantity), iced towels, live dance performances, and a wide array of gifts and prizes from sponsors, vendors, and local non-profits. Three schools were each awarded $500 grants for having the largest teams registered: Boston Elementary, Bascomb Elementary, and Sequoyah Cross Country.

The event was supported by many in our community. Still, it couldn't be exceptional without the support of our amazing Platinum race Sponsors: Northside Hospital Cherokee, Carriage Kia of Woodstock, Credit Union of Georgia, Cobb EMC Foundation, Amie Chambers Real Estate, Cherokee Children's Dentistry, Goodwin Investment Advisory, Price Law Group, and Explore Canton.
